For the completion of a special issue on "Gender and Illness," the multidisciplinary online journal "gender forum", affiliated with the University of Cologne, Germany, seeks 2-3 articles discussing the intersection and mutual implications of gender and illness. We welcome contributions all disciplines.
The editorial staff for the new peer-reviewed journal Ethnoscapes: An Interdisciplinary Journal on Race and Ethnicity in the Global Context invites submissions for its second issue on the subject of "Transnational Migration, Globalization, and Citizenship." Ethnoscapes maps the development of important themes in the field of race and ethnic studies by using a "classic" piece as a point of departure for a reconsideration of critical issues within the contemporary economic, political, and cultural terrain.
Since the end of the Cold War, scholarship has provided new definitions of conflict that have attempted to reconfigure the identity of the 'enemy' or 'other'. Whether in the realm of personal interaction or political engagements, the changing nature of global politics in the post-Cold War era has fundamentally impacted the many ways people see themselves in relation to others. This inter-disciplinary conference encourages fresh scrutiny of contemporary debates concerning the relevance of 'globalisation', and the rise of the media to the so-called 'war on terror'.
The recently formed working group in Arabic theatre and performance welcomes paper proposals for the 2007 conference.
The term Arabic is meant to indicate a general geographical and cultural area of investigation, not to be exclusive, and investigations of material from related non-Arabic performance traditions (eg. Turkey, Iran) and idigenous performance traditions (eg Berber) are welcome.
