The Poet's Letter Second London Poetry Festival 2006

The Second London Poetry Festival 2006, sponsored by Poet's Letter, will take place on 23 August from 6.30-10.30pm at Vanburgh Theatre, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Vanburgh Theatre, 62-64 Gower Street, London WC1E 6ED. The largest gathering of contemporary English poets is expected, including most, if not all, of the poets in Poet's Letter Panel of Poets.

The Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award 2006

The second Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award will be made in September 2006 at the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Festival in Cork, Ireland. The prize is for 35,000 euros (approx US$42,500). When inaugurated in 2005 it was envisioned that the award would be for 50,000 euros given biannually. It has now been decided to award 35,000 euros annually, Eligible books are those by living authors, published for the first time, in English anywhere in the world, between October 2005 and September 15th 2006 (selecteds, collecteds or books containing stories published in a previous volume of stories by the author will not be eligible). Translations are eligible. If a translation wins, the prize will be split evenly between translator and original author.

The White House Poets are calling for submissions

The White House Poets are calling for submissions for their new poetry journal Revival, a quarterly publication featuring local, national and international poets. The first issue is due out in October 2006 and will be launched at the Cuisle Limerick City International Poetry Festival. Those submitting are asked to send a maximum of five original, previously unpublished poems, typed, with the author's name of each sheet of paper. Poets should include an up to date short biography (2 or 3 lines) and a current postal address.
