Alone
Alone,
Waiting for the phone to ring,
A woman friend has promised to call between five and six,
My fingers are stained with ashes,
Its seven o'clock
When the phone starts to ring,
It isn't her,
But another woman,
From the phone company,
A new service she is offering,
I hang up,
The phone immediately rings again,
This is the one whose call I'm waiting for
The line was busy,
She says,
She rejoined her ex lover,
She is not coming.
Scavenger
Staring at good looking butts
on the street
pick a few up
stack them in empty
cigarette packs
Enjoy them
When I
get some matches
