Amelia Walker

Amelia Walker is a twenty three year old writer and nurse from Adelaide, Australia. She began performing her poetry in pubs and cafes when she was sixteen and has been heavily involved in the spoken word community ever since, performing at events such as the Big Day Out (SA), the Overload Poetry Festival (VIC), the This Is Not Art Festival (NSW), the Queensland Poetry Festival, the WA Spring Poetry Festival and the SA Writers Festival. Her work has been published in magazines and journals in Australia, N.Z., the U.S.A., Canada, Norway, the U.K. and online. She has published one collection of poetry, 'Fat Streets and Lots of Squares', and worked as a poetry editor for 'Friendly Street' and 'dB'. Amelia is presently working as a poetry teacher at Collingwood Alternative School, helping students to pen a collaborative online verse novel that is published in weekly installments at http://www.reachout.com.au/default.asp?ti=2817
