Native of Wewoka Oklahoma and graduate of East Central University (Ada, OK) in 1956 with a BS in General Business and minor in Speech; has lived in Seattle WA since 1960. Has written a novel, Broker Jim (Author House, 2002), three books of poetry, Buffalo Tracks, Window In The Sky and Seattle Poems. He has also written seven community histories under the name Jack R. Evans; a history of Sweden, Swedes-From Whence They Came and two biographies, Chasing His Dreams – Life of Entrepreneur Richard Shannon Thorp and Levant Thompson. He has recently completed a mining story based on his experiences with the Canyon Silver Mine in Wallace, Idaho. A former stockbroker-investment banker, he has engaged in mining and co-produced a movie, Christmas Mountain, featuring the late Slim Pickens. (Evans also appears in the movie.) Founder and managing director of PoetsWest. Evans is the host of a weekly radio show of poetry and music broadcast on KSER 90.7 FM in Everett, Washington. His work has been widely published. Listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. He is a member of the Washington Poets Association, Poets Against the War, Academy of American Poets, and is the founder of Activists for a Better World.
