
Jane Wood joined Park University as an Associate Professor of English and Chair of the English Department in the fall of 2006. Prior to joining Park University, Wood was the Director of the UMKC Women's Center and a lecturer in the UMKC English Department (2002—2006). From 1997—2002 Wood served as an Associate Processor and Chair of the Masters in Liberal Arts program at Baker University, where she was elected by students as an outstanding faculty member. She most recently published a poem in the Kansas City Star titled “Riding Forty” (May 2006). She has published a collection of autobiographical essays with co-author Rev.Sue Dolquist titled, What Eve Didn't Tell Us (2002). Wood currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Unicorn Theatre and is Program Chair for the Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge. She is a member of the Griffiths Society for Women in Leadership at the University of Missouri, and an elected member of the national committee for conflict mediation for the National Women’s Studies Association. Wood graduated summa cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor's degree in English. She earned her Master's degree and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Kansas. Her area of specialty is women's writing, particularly the intersection of social class and female authorship.
