"Timekeeper"

timekeeper/timekeeper/timekeeper

the paper moon is waiting

my heart is filling to capacity in anticipation

broken down minutes

tic/toc/tic/toc/tic/toc

deconstructed moments

tic/toc/tic/toc/tic/toc

we are all in denial of the present

(tic/toc/tic/toc/tic/toc)

quick, one full circle clockwise, 24 hours

closer to the next sunrise

and i am blinded by the salt and the tears in my eyes

flitting debaucherously through the years

bestowed upon me

run/run/run

you, with the stopwatch!  how fast can i make it there

you, in my future!  can you wait?

run/run/run

too damn many planets for me to remember them all

circling ceaselessly around the scathing star

i didn't even stop my car long enough in rush hour

to ask if i could see venus crossing the sun

once every 122 years

run/run/run

fill me with minutes and multitudes of experiments

fill me with moments and manufactured vibrancy

if you're in a hurry, you're already dead

if you're watching me, i'll guess you don't fit in

if you're timing us from start to finish, you know how this all ends

timekeeper/timekeeper/timekeeper

the paper moon is waiting
