Renew Us with Love, poem by Eileen Dawson Peterson

Still the guns

              hush the mortars

                  stop the bombs.

There can be no peace

                  while war is waged,

       people die, are maimed,

                     languish without hope

          soldiers drop in vain

        for no good reason

violence and killing

breed hate and fear

  cripple joy, kill song

            the creative heart.

    Yet the Spirit of Love

opens the door to

      renewal, cooperation

     revives hope

      returns sanity

brings peace

Where is the spirit of love

                 in our world today

           the spirit of renewal

                 and hope

how can we ever find it

                  if the shouting and

            the shooting

                   do not stop

            what part of a bomb

        holds peace?
