In the Blue Line bus, shaken about like boiling butterbeans,
we raced towards Delphi – the omphalos, navel of the cosmos –
to see the hero-hymns come alive.

Louise C. Callaghan was born in 1948 and grew up in county Dublin. She studied English and Spanish at University College, Dublin. Her children were all born in the 1970’s. She qualified as a secondary school teacher, with an H.Dip in Education from Trinity College, Dublin in 1980. She worked as publisher in Arlen House: The Women’s Press in the 1980’s and subsequently as a secondary school teacher of English through most of the 1990's.
